4 Way Pdi Interclub at Gosforth - Tuesday 21st November 2017.

On Tuesday 21st November 2017, Gosforth Camera Club hosted members from Morpeth, Cramlington and Gateshead
Camera clubs for Part one of the 4 Way Inter Club Competitions. Each club had entered ten images on any subject
with Malcolm Kus ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b, a local judge with a fine reputation in photographic circles throughout the UK,
giving each image a mark out of thirty.

Gosforth’s chairman Peter Maguire LRPS welcomed the visitors and then introduced Malcolm, who stated that, unusually
he had awarded thirty points to two images instead of the usual one. Malcolm commented on how high the standard was
throughout and that a mark of twenty two did not mean that the picture was poor, but had to be compared with the best
on the night. Each image was given careful consideration and appropriate comments made quite often with his well known
Black Country wit.

As the competition progressed it became fairly obvious that Morpeth was not going to take first place, as Gosforth moved
ahead and had the two images awarded the maximum thirty marks. Overall our images maintained a steady standard, as
Stonechat with Catch by George Sudlow was our highest scorer gaining twenty seven marks. At the end of the judging the
totals were as follows - 4th place Cramlington with 247 marks, 3rd place were Morpeth with 250 marks, 2nd Gateshead
with 255 marks and the leaders on the night were the hosts, Gosforth with 267 marks.

The evening ended with Gosforth’s chairman thanking Malcolm for his fine judging and an excellent buffet was laid out for
one and all. Gosforth looked after their guests with warmth and hospitality that could not be faulted. This was part one of
a two part competition and with the print section to be held at Gosforth in February, we may have a fairly big deficit to
make up, but we can do it!
